
Genevieve Thompson
RN, PhD • Associate Professor
Genevieve is a Registered Nurse and tenured Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Manitoba. Over the last 15 years, Genevieve has a developed a program of research focused on quality care for older adults living and dying in long-term care, along with those that visit and work in these settings of care. Her studies have systematically explored issues related to palliative approaches, person-centred practices and improving the quality of life for older adults, particularly for persons with dementia, within long-term care. She has research affiliations with Riverview Health Centre, the Centre on Aging at the University of Manitoba and the Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research (MCNHR). She is a board member of Palliative Manitoba. Genevieve teaches qualitative research methods for graduate students, and care of older adults, along with palliative and supportive care to undergraduate nursing students.
